Minor Suspect Involved in Snatching Mobile Phone Arrested by Police Authorities

ROBBERY INCIDENT – The police authorities arrested a minor suspect for snatching a mobile phone in Santa. Cruz, Manila.

The roaming police officers in Santa. Cruz, Manila was able to corner a riding-in-tandem at an intersection. The cops arrested the rider but his colleague was able to escape after snatching the mobile phone of a lady victim named Joan Ofqueria.

“Pagkuha po ng cellphone sigaw po ako. Sabi ko, ‘Kuya, ‘yung cellphone ko po’. Wala po kaming napansin talaga kaya ‘yung cellphone po namin (linalabas namin) kasi wala po kaming naririnig na (tunog) ng motor po,” Ofqeuria said.

Ofqueria said that her phone is important to her because she was using it to contact her family in Cebu. It was her first time experiencing such a crime in Manila although she usually watches it on the news.

Santa Cruz Police Station chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Czar Solas revealed that the suspect is working at a computer shop. The culprit reportedly spent the P20, 000 income from the computer shop, which pushed him to engage in illegal activity.

“Mayroon siyang parang nadispalko na pera, around P20,000, so parang naubos ‘yung pera na ‘yun at namomroblema siya kung paano babayaran doon sa may-ari ng computer shop,” Solas said.

The cops recovered the motorcycle used by the suspect but the stolen mobile phone has been taken by his colleague. The police authorities plan to turn over the minor suspect to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Solas also advised the public to be more vigilant of their surroundings.
