2 Mt Province Tourists Carrying P7.7M Illegal Plant Arrested
Police authorities arrested two (2), local tourists in Mt Province for allegedly carrying an illegal plant called ‘marijuana’.
The two local tourists were detained in Sitio Ampawilen, Poblacion, Sadanga, Mountain Province while carrying marijuana bricks valued at P7.7 million, the police report claims. At the police checkpoint, they were detained.
Eliseo IV San Pedro Quiambao, 23, of 18P Tuazon Street in Cubao, Quezon City, and John Cedric Gadia, 21, of 64 Bae Compound in Barangay Vastra, Quezon City, were the two people detained. The suspects, according to the investigator, were in a car that was stopped at a checkpoint.
The Police Regional Office-regional Cordillera’s director, BGen Mafelino Bazar, stated that they had learned that bricks of marijuana will be transported from Kalinga to Baguio City. An Interdiction Border Control Checkpoint was therefore conducted by authorities, based on the report.
The personnel of the Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company (Lead units), 3rd Platoon, 2nd Coy, Sadanga Municipal Police Station, Mountain Province Provincial Police Office, and PDEA Mountain Province Joint Force for the operation. The two suspects were in a gray automobile with the license plate NAE 3385 when it was stopped at the checkpoint.
Three sacks containing 67 marijuana bricks totaling 64.283 kilograms and priced at P7,713,960.00 were discovered inside the car. Eliang Anongos, the barangay captain, and Lanie Faith Lagob, a PIO Mountain Province employee, were present while the inventory was conducted in the region. According to authorities, the couple will be charged for breaking the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
