Carlo Aquino is happy to be part of this movie by Direk JP Laxamana
Kapamilya actor Carlo Aquino was hesitant at first to accept the offer to do the movie Expensive Candy with actress Julia Barretto.
This movie is written and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana under Viva Films. Carlo was the personal choice to play the leading man role, a high school teacher who has no experience when it comes to intimacy.
Direk JP shared that when this movie project was presented to Carlo, the actor felt nervous. The latter immediately sent a message on Facebook. “Unang tanong pa lang niya, na-sense ko na. Baka akala nito yung mga R-rated na movies,” the director shared.
Direk JP told Carlo that the movie he did for Cinemalaya was more intense. The actor was surprised that the director knew about his Cinemalaya movie. He did not expect that Direk JP has an idea about this.
“Bottomline, romance movie pa rin ang Expensive Candy na it just so happen na ganoon ang setting,” the director shared. Carlo expressed that he is lucky to be part of this project because he had the chance to work with Direk JP and Julia.
He said that it was easy working with the actress. Carlo admitted that at first, he thought that he and Julia would not click but he was wrong about this. “Actually, nung first, akala ko hindi ko siya makaka-vibes kasi nga quiet lang si Julia, pero kalog din pala. Kalog na class. Class na dancing queen,” he enthused.
Carlo Aquino also said that he has known Julia Barretto since she was just a young girl. He was reminded by Direk JP Laxamana that his look toward the actress in the movie should have “malisya.” “Dapat may desire at parang nagawa ko naman. Na-good take naman,” the actor said.
