Vhong Navarro has to face legal issues once again
The camp of It’s Showtime host Vhong Navarro has this reaction to the order from the Court of Appeals (CA) to the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office to file rape and acts of lasciviousness charges against him.
If Vhong thought that his legal battle with model-stylist Deniece Cornejo was already over when the Department of Justice (DOJ) junked the latter’s complaints in 2018 and 2020, then, he is mistaken. On July 3o, reports surfaced that CA contradicted the decision previously bestowed by DOJ regarding the case.
To recall, Vhong’s life as a popular TV host, dancer, and comedian suddenly became controversial when the issue between him and Deniece surfaced in 2014. The model filed a case against the TV host following the incident that happened in the former’s house.
However, years after that, DOJ took the side of Deniece and junked her complaints for the reason that there was “inconsistency” in her statement and that the intimacy that happened between them was “consensual.”
As the CA went against the decision of the DOJ, the camp of Vhong Navarro expressed that there is nothing to worry about. In a news report on TV Patrol, the primetime news program of ABS-CBN, Vhong’s lawyer Atty. Alma Mallonga said that the decision of the CA is not final yet.
They will file a motion for reconsideration to the court to reverse this decision. “He will exercise all the other rights and remedies that are available to him under the law,” the lawyer of the It’s Showtime host said.
Amid this revived controversy that happened years ago between Vhong Navarro and Deniece Cornejo, netizens expressed mixed reactions online. Many netizens criticized the TV host while there were those who criticized others who questioned why the CA had to revive this issue.
