DOH Says PH Logged Highest New COVID-19 Cases Since March

DOH Speaks on COVID-19 Cases in PH

DOH – The Department of Health said that the Philippines’ recent new COVID-19 cases record is highest since March 6.

The Philippine government and the health authorities continue to remind the public not to be complacent because the threats of the virus are still present. Malacañang previously reiterated the order of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on mandatory wearing of face masks in public areas amid the order making the face masks optional outdoors in Cebu.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also previously warned nations to keep their eye on the fight against the pandemic. According to the WHO, amid the easing of restrictions in several nations across the globe, the pandemic is not over everywhere if it is not over somewhere.

In the Philippines, most of the areas including Metro Manila are under Alert Level 1. It is the loosest quarantine measure.

The Department of Health (DOH) previously expressed affirmation on the possibility of placing Metro Manila under Alert Level 2 in case the COVID-19 cases would continue to increase and as well as the hospital utilization rate. According to the health department, congestion in hospitals must be prevented.

Recently, DOH logged the highest new COVID-19 cases recorded in a day since March 6. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, on Friday, the health department confirmed 770 new COVID-19 cases. Out of the said total, 373 were recorded in Metro Manila.

Currently, the total active cases of COVID in the Philippines is at 6,068. It is the highest number of active infections in the country since last April 30. Twelve (12) new deaths were logged.

The public is advised to continue practicing the minimum health protocols – proper hygiene and the wearing of face masks most especially in public places. The alert level is announced every two weeks unless there is an urgent need to implement stricter restrictions.
