Mandaluyong City Hit-and-Run Suspect No Show During First Hearing of Preliminary Investigation

The viral hit-and-run suspect Jose Antonio Sanvicente skipped the first hearing of the preliminary investigation.

On Friday (June 17, 2022), the SUV driver in a viral hit-and-run in Mandaluyong City failed to show up at the preliminary probe’s hearing in Mandaluyong City Hall of Justice. The victim’s lawyer and the netizens expressed their disappointment with the incident.

Atty. Danny Macalino, Sanvicente’s legal said that the suspect received a copy of the affidavit of security guard Christian Floralde. The SUV driver has been also asked to submit a counter affidavit on June 23.

Macalino explained that Sanvicente has to attend the next hearing on June 23 to take his oath as he submits the counter affidavit. He also discussed the matter with the camp of Floralde and clarified that his client did not have any settlement with the victim.

“We are willing to help but that doesn’t mean na aaregluhin iyong kaso,” Macalino said.

Floralde’s lawyer Federico Biolena has expressed his disappointment over the absence of Sanvicente during the first hearing.

“I hope so na nandito siya para makasumpa siya (I hope he’s here to take his oath). He cannot submit his counter-affidavit without him being present in the Prosecutor’s Office,” Biolena said.

Meanwhile, Floralde attended the hearing despite his health condition but refused to give media interviews. Biolena also explained that his client has yet to make a proposal to shoulder the medical expenses of the guard.
