KZ Tandingan talks about being an artist
KZ was able to penetrate the music industry after she joined The X Factor Philippines back in 2012. From that, she became a household name with her amazing performances. She is now being tagged as Asia’s Soul Supreme.
Before getting to her star status now, KZ also received help from artists who came into the industry before her. In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer Lifestyle, the singer was under the mentorship of famous artists like Jake Zyrus, Gary Valenciano, Pilita Corrales, and Martin Nievera.
KZ Tandingan shared what she learned from the Concert King. She said, for someone like Martin, who is a big name in the music industry, a small show is still as important as a big show.
“Si sir Martin, (he said), there are no small shows. Maliit man o malaki ang role mo, one-liner man ‘yan or full medley ang ipe-perform mo, isang tao man iyong manonood or isang buong coliseum, you should always give your 100%,” KZ shared.
With what she has learned, KZ also said that she aims to impart the lessons she was able to acquire over the years. In teaching the new generation of singers as a mentor of Top Class: Rise To P-Pop Stardom, the P-pop talent reality competition, KZ would like to share what she learned from her mentors.
“I try to share it with everybody lalung-lalo na sa nagsisimula kasi itong trabaho na ito kasi ay delikado siya lalo na kapag biglang umangat and it gets in your head,” the singer said.
KZ Tandingan also shared that she is thankful that there are people around her who would always remind her of her humble beginnings and so this keeps her feet on the ground.
