VP Leni Robredo addressed this letter to VP-elect Sara Duterte
Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo congratulated Vice President-elect Sara Duterte through this letter.
Previously, Mayor Christina Frasco, the spokesperson for Duterte, said that the outgoing Davao City Mayor has communicated formally with the Office of the Vice President to have a meeting for a “smooth, orderly, and comprehensive transition,” based on the report from Inquirer.
This is the first meeting between Robredo and Duterte since 2015 when they had lunch together. Reportedly, Duterte’s camp scheduled her inauguration on June 19. This is 11 days earlier than the usual date of inauguration for the newly elected president and vice president.
On May 30, the OVP released a letter signed by VP Leni Robredo who congratulated her successor. “Warmest congratulations on your proclamation as the 15th Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines,” Robredo’s letter stated.
The OVP also acknowledged the letter that the VP-elect has sent regarding her request to have a meeting with Robredo. “Please be advised that we are ready to meet to answer any questions you may have regarding the Office of the Vice President and to take all necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition,” the outgoing Vice President said in the letter. VP Leni Robredo ended her letter with “Again, congratulations, and all the best.”
Meanwhile, the camp of VP-elect Sara Duterte also sent a letter to the office of Education Secretary Leonor Briones, as she was named as the next Education Secretary by President-elect Bongbong Marcos.
“As the transition process is still ongoing entailing detailed discussions on all aspects of the workings of the OVP and the DepEd, information on the completion of this process will be released once available,” Duterte’s spokesperson said.
