The world of showbiz mourns for Susan Roces
Queen of Philippine Movies Susan Roces dies at the age of 80 and this was confirmed by her daughter Senator Grace Poe.
Susan rose to fame when she portrayed the role of an 11-year-old girl in the 1952 movie Mga Bituin ng Kinabukasan under Nepomuceno Productions. In the same year, she was featured in the movie Boksingera under Sampaguita Pictures.
From that, Susan’s career bloomed until she became one of the pillars of the movie industry in the Philippines. She also received several acting recognitions. Susan was hailed as Best Actress several times by FAMAS and Star Awards. The most recent character she played that was well-loved by many viewers was Lola Flora in Coco Martin’s TV series Ang Probinsyano.
Fans and artists will surely miss the veteran actress. On Friday, Senator Grace Poe confirmed in her statement that her mother has passed away, based on the article in PEP.
“With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved Jesusa Sonora Poe, whom many of you know as Susan Roces. She passed away peacefully on a Friday evening, May 20, 2022, surrounded by love and warmth, with her daughter Grace, her nephews Joseph and Jeffrey and many of her family and close friends,” the lawmaker said.
Sen. Poe added that her mother lived her life fully and gracefully. The lawmaker also said that her mother will always be remembered for her beauty, warmth, and kindness.
“She is now with the Lord and her beloved Ronnie — FPJ. We will miss her sorely but we celebrate a life well lived. Susan Roces — daughter, mother, grandmother, a true Filipina and a national treasure,” Sen. Poe said in her statement.
Rest in peace Jesusa Purificacion Levy Sonora-Poe. You will be missed.
