The local and national Elections 2022 have transpired and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is now in the process of canvassing the votes. An automated election was held last May 9 and millions of Filipino voters allotted time to vote for their candidates.
Most of the voting precincts closed at 7:00 p.m. during election day. In some areas, there were reported delays due to glitches on vote-counting machines. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who does not believe there was cheating during the elections already asked Comelec to investigate such incidents.
Shortly after most of the voting precincts closed, partial and unofficial results were made available to the public. Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer and former Senator Bongbong Marcos is leading the presidential race.
After 98% of the votes has been canvassed, Marcos Jr.’s camp declared victory in the 2022 Presidential Elections. Reportedly, the presidential election frontrunner had a victory party held at Solaire Hotel and attended by some of the biggest names in the business field.
Recently, it was reported that presumptive president Bongbong Marcos and his family are in Australia for a “much-needed rest”. The Australian Ambassador to the Philippines spoke on the visit of the presumptive president to Australia.
