Andrea Torres talked about her first international film
Blessings keep on pouring on Andrea when it comes to her career. Last year, she started filming for her Argentine-Filipino movie produced by Malevo Films, in cooperation with GMA Network.
In the said movie, she is playing the role of Mahalia, a tango dancer who falls in love with biologist Norberto, the character played by seasoned actor Marcelo Melingo. Based on the article in Inquirer, Andrea Torres has many firsts in this film.
She has to learn the tango and milonga which is another kind of dance that originated in South America and incorporates fundamental elements of the Argentine tango.
“I experienced lots of things. I trained to do the tango here in the Philippines, before flying to Argentina last year. I was surprised once I got there because the tango we usually see is different from the milonga, which I had to learn there,” the Kapuso star said.
She further explained that milonga is an intimate dance in which the woman would follow her partner’s lead and they would sense the movements of each other.
Aside from the dance, Andrea had to learn to speak Spanish as well. She said that her leading man was one of her mentors in learning the language. “They have a different tone when they speak the language. I feel like I’m singing. I would love to continue learning Spanish because it’s such a widely used language, and maybe helpful for future projects,” the actress said.
When it comes to acting, Andrea Torres also had a different approach. She said that in past projects that she did, they were heavier on drama. However, in Pasional, she was instructed to have very minimal actions and have more restrained reactions.
“They wanted snappier movements,” the actress added. Andrea Torres also said that she has discovered a lot of things about herself that she can definitely use for her future projects and combine with what she has learned in the past years.
