Honest Basurero Earns Praises After Returning Lost Cash to Owner

An honest basurero or garbage collector earns praises and admiration online after returning the lost cash he found to its owner.

Honesty or truthfulness is a facet of moral character that connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness, involving being trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere.

Honest people usually refuse to lie, cheat, steal and commit mistakes that will destroy another person’s trust.

Nowadays, we can rarely see honest people returning lost valuables and cash to its respective owner. However, there are still some people who prove that faith in humanity is restored after showing an act of honesty.

A garbage collector identified as Alden Marquez from Legazpi City, Albay showed an act of honesty after he returned the lost money he found in front of Legazpi City National High School. The incident has been caught on a CCTV camera.

In the video, it can be seen that a female teacher accidentally dropped her cash worth P10, 000. Luckily, Alden saw the money and pick it up after the teacher entered the school premises to perform her job.

A pedicab driver saw the garbage collector’s act and tried to ask for some money. Marquez refused to grant the driver’s request and he decided to turn over the lost cash to the school security guard.

Eventually, the cash has been returned to the respective owner. The teacher also gives a cash reward to Alden because of his honesty. The school principal is also planning to give a reward to the honest Bicolano.
