Baguio Mayor Magalong Issues Apology to Jillian Robredo Over Heckling Incident

Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong has issued a public apology to Vice President’s youngest daughter Jillian Robredo over heckling incident.

Over the past few days, Jillian Robredo becomes one of the most controversial personalities online after an Igorot shouted at her group. The furious resident shouted “Dayuhan ka lang dito, mga Igorot kami.”

The Igorot identified as Cliff Lewis criticized several reports for giving misleading and false information to the public. Lewis also said that he will never apologize for his action knowing he is right.

On Wednesday (April 27, 2022), Magalong apologized to Vice President Leni Robredo’s daughter Jillian after she was heckled at the Baguio City Public Market. He explained that it was an isolated incident and described Baguio residents as warm and sincere people.

“We are sorry that incidents like this took place. Rudeness has never been standard conduct of Baguio folks. We can assure Ms. Robredo that such a physical outburst by that person is not representative of Baguio’s legendary hospitable conduct, especially to visitors and guests,” Magalong said in a statement.

Magalong is hoping that the supporters of the Presidential bet will regard the heckling incident. He also explained that the Baguio residents treat everyone with utmost fairness.

VP Leni Robredo also respond and explained that there is no need for an apology because the incident does not diminish her love and respect for the residents of Baguio. “This unfortunate incident does not diminish our love and respect for the people of Baguio,” Robredo wrote on her Twitter post.
