JOEL VILLANUEVA’S PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of Senator Joel Villanueva and the things he promises to do if he gets elected again as Senator in the May 2022 Elections.
Joel Villanueva or Emmanuel Joel Jose Villanueva is also known as the “Tesdaman.” He is the son of evangelist and founder and spiritual director of Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide Eddie Villanueva. Before becoming a Senator, he served as the Director-General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
PERSONAL BACKGROUND
Joel Villanueva is a graduate of Commerce, Major in Economics, at the University of Santo Tomas. Then, he took up Special Studies in Business Administration at Harvard University in Massachusetts from 1996 to 1998. Completing the Advanced Food and Beverages Service Course (NC III) at TESDA in 2012 makes him a certified “barista” as well. He was given an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree in 2013 by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Villanueva is married to Gladys Cruz-Villanueva and they are blessed with two children, Jaden and Gwyn.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Serving as a Senator, Villanueva was able to sponsor more than 500 Senate Bills and Resolutions, including the 17th Congress are the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Law (Republic Act No. 11058), the Telecommuting or Work-From-Home Law (RA 11165), the Free Tuition Law (RA 10931), the Philippine Qualifications Framework Law (RA 10968) and the Tulong-Trabaho Law (RA 11230).
He was given the recognition “Order of Lakandula,” by former President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III for his remarkable service as TESDA chief. The province of Bulacan also gave him the “Gawad Dangal ng Lipi for Public Service” for his public service efforts.

- Institutionalize and strengthen Unemployment insurance, National Employment Recovery Strategy, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Emergency Employment Program, and Employment transition support programs
- Pass laws for flexible employment arrangements, including voluntary work arrangements, providing job opportunities for senior citizens, and supporting freelancers and the gig economy
- Empowerment in the workplace by protecting the rights of workers
- Cultivating knowledge and skills development in enterprises, science and technology, and medicine
- To re-file the “End Endo” bill in the 19th Congress
