Many of the presidential candidates in the May 2022 Elections are incumbent politicians who have held various posts in the government. One of them is former Manila Mayor and incumbent Rep. Lito Atienza.
Personal Background:
Born on August 10, 1941 in Manila, Jose “Lito”Livioko Atienza Jr. grew up in Manila City. He had his primary and secondary education from Ateneo de Manila University’s Basic Education Unit. He is a graduate of University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He is married to Evelino Ilagan and their marriage is blessed with six (6) children including TV host Kim Atienza, newscaster Ali Atienza, and Manila 3rd District councilor Maile Atienza.
Accomplishments:
Rep. Lito Atienza is a former mayor of Manila City. He focused on cleaning the city from drugs during his term. He has also served in the House of Representatives as the Buhay party-list representative and he authored at least 21 laws. He filed at least 254 bills. In November 2020, he was elected as the deputy speaker. He was initially set to retire from politics and serve as the adviser of Sen. Manny Pacquiao but the boxer-turned-senator convinced him to be his running-mate in the upcoming election.
