Catriona Gray shared her thoughts on body shaming
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray stressed the importance of talking against body shaming that people from different walks of like are experiencing.
In a recent interview, Catriona defended her fellow beauty queen Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu against body shaming. Bashers attacked the current Miss Universe for allegedly gaining weight, base on the article in The Philippine Star.
Catriona said that even those who are known for their beauty is not exempted from the negativity that other people are spreading.
“It affects not just Miss Universe titleholders, but all women. And by extension of that, all people in a way. It sends a message that you’re not beautiful if you don’t meet this criteria for a body type or weight, and it’s just a horrible message to put out there,” Catriona Gray said.
She is saddened by the fact that despite the beauty queen from India was able to achieve her dream at the age of 21, negative comments are being thrown at her. “If I were 21 years old and be in that position, I can just imagine how it would affect me,” Catriona shared.
With this, the Fil-Aussie beauty queen said that this issue should be addressed. She said that talks against body shaming should continue and stressed that weight should not be the determining factor of knowing someone.
“I really want to send the message that that sort of negativity does not deserve a space,” Catriona Gray stressed.
The fourth Pinay Miss Universe also shared her thoughts on people struggling to lose weight. She said that working out does not give an assurance that one would be achieved a body size because people have different body types.
“As women, we are way more than our body image. We are persons with character, personality and passion,” Catriona Gray said.
