Koko Pimentel will support Manny Pacquiao until the end
Senator Koko Pimentel believes that Senator Manny Pacquiao will win the presidential race even though he is not doing well in pre-election surveys.
For the 2022 elections, Pacquiao is just taking 4th or 5th place in survey results. However, his team is optimistic that he will triumph against his opponents in the political arena.
Based on the report from Inquirer, the National Chairman the other faction of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) believes that Manny Pacquiao has to go through a narrow path but still triumph is awaiting.
“Alam pa rin namin ngayon that we still have a chance. I call it a narrow path to victory but still it is there,” Pimentel said. For him, a new method was done in conducting surveys amid the pandemic which according to him, has not reached the “masa”.
The most recent survey result that Pulse Asia released showed that Pacquiao was in the number 4 spot with 8 percent of the votes from respondents. As usual, the survey leader is UniTeam’s presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and he was followed by Vice President Leni Robredo.
Pimentel said that survey results do not affect them anymore. “I’ve lost my trust on surveys. Number two, this is pandemic times, there must have been a new method in doing a survey during pandemic. Maybe, taking advantage of technology,” the lawmaker said.
He pointed out that their people are mostly from D and E segments who are less technology-influenced people. Pimentel also said that they will support Senator Manny Pacquiao all the way. This is despite the speculations that their presidential bet will withdraw.
“We will respect his decision and if he says right now that there is no way that he will withdraw, then we are with him. We never foresaw that he would be withdrawing when we joined him from Day 1,” the lawmaker said.
