Ogie Alcasid renewed his contract with ABS-CBN
This is the reason why OPM icon Ogie Alcasid chose to remain a Kapamilya despite the fact that ABS-CBN’s franchise was not renewed.
Ogie started his career on TV back in 1992 and this was on ABS-CBN. He was part of the comedy show Small Brothers. Eventually, he was given a stint on ABC through the defunct gag show Tropang Trumpo. Later on, he transferred to the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang on GMA.
It was in 2016 when he returned to his home network. Until now, the singer-songwriter has remained a Kapamilya and he recently renewed his contract with ABS-CBN, along with other stars.
During the interview after the contract signing, based on the article in Philippines’ Ultimate Showbiz Hub, Ogie Alcasid said that he will always be there for his home network, because this is where he started.
The OPM icon also stressed that the Kapamilya network allows him to do what he really enjoys to do. “I’m so honored that at this juncture of my career, I was given a chance again to do what I love to do and that is to sing every Sunday, to perform every Sunday, to make people laugh every single day. That gives me so much joy,” Ogie said.
Previously Ogie Alcasid shared his thoughts on being tagged “husband of Regine Velasquez” which may sound like diminishing his star status as his wife is the Asia’s Songbird. However, the singer-songwriter pointed out that he feels proud being called that way because he boasted how wonderful his wife is.
Fans of Ogie defended him by saying that he has already established his name in the music industry, even before he and Regine got married.
