Lito Atienza has this request to his running mate
House Deputy Speaker Lito Atienza said that he is considering backing out of the vice presidential race and that he is ready to show support for Senate President Tito Sotto.
Atienza has not been able to join the political rallies with his running mate Senator Manny Pacquiao due to health issues. In a report from One News PH reporter Mon Gualvez, Pacquiao said that there is no problem between him and the Congressman.
The Senator also said that Atienza even said that he will choose Sotto if ever he will back out. “Wala naman kaming problema ni Congressman Lito Atienza at sabi naman ng aking ka-tandem na kung may mapili man siya na kung sakaling hindi niya kaya ay gusto niya si Sotto na pwedeng dalhin as VP,” Pacquiao said.
In a recent report, Lito Atienza said that he is considering backing out, and if this happens, he will show support for the Pacquiao-Sotto tandem. The former Manila Mayor even called for Sotto’s running mate Senator Ping Lacson to withdraw from the presidency.
Meanwhile, Senator Manny Pacquiao said that there is no finality yet on this matter but he said that there is a possible meeting between him and Senator Tito Sotto. “Abangan niyo na lang ‘yung mga susunod na kabanata kapag nakapag-usap na kami. Hindi pa kami nagkakapag-usap kaya sabi ko abangan ninyo,” the boxer-turned-politician said, based on the report from Inquirer.
Previously, Lito Atienza said that he is willing to give up the vice president position if he wins, and if the president will be UniTeam’s presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos will win, the running mate is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the vice-presidential survey’s leader.
