DSWD Waits Directive for Distribution of Cash Aid for Poor Filipinos

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is still waiting for directives before distributing the cash aid for poor Filipinos.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said that the agency is already waiting for official documents that will give directives in distributing the cash subsidy for less-fortunate families in the country.

Earlier this week, it can be remembered that President Rodrigo Duterte said that the monthly cash assistance for poor families should be P500 instead of P200 due to the consecutive weeks of pump price increases.

“Inaantabayanan pa po natin yung opisyal na kasulatan na maglalaman ng identified beneficiaries, yung halaga na ipapamahagi, at yung mga institutional arrangements na kinakailangan na maisagawa para tayo ay makapag-proceed dito nga sa pag-execute ng direktiba ng ating pangulo na bigyan ng cash subsidy itong mga mahihirap na pamilya,” Dumlao said.

Dumlao said that the agency is already coordinating with the Department of Finance regarding the matter. The agency will also comply with the policy that will be anchored on the official document regarding the financial subsidy.

Previously, DOF recommends the distribution of P33.1 billion subsidy for less-fortunate Filipino families. The agency is currently waiting for the list of beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, oil companies have imposed the first ever rollback this 2022 last Tuesday (March 22) after more than two months of consecutive hikes. The series of increase contribute to the burden of Filipino people.
