Gab Pangilinan Air Dismay to Comelec Appointing New Officials Amid Campaign
Theater actress Gab Pangilinan slammed the Commission on Election (Comelec) for appointing new officials amid the campaign period.
Gab Pangilinan, the lead actress in ‘The Last El Bimbo,’ expressed her discontent with the appointment of new Comelec commissioners on Twitter. Pangilinan inquired as to why the Comelec replaced key executives throughout the campaign season.
“How is it even allowed to change COMELEC commissioners in the middle of a campaign. Lantaran eh,” Pangilinan wrote in her post.

It even blasted the candidates UniTeam, an electoral coalition made up of supporters of Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte’s presidential and vice-presidential candidacies in the 2022 elections. Gab is the nephew of Kiko Pangilinan, the vice-presidential candidate.
According to certain internet users, President Rodrigo Duterte’s appointment of additional commissioners was lawful. Article 7, Section 15 of the 1987 Constitution. The President may not make nominations for two months before the next presidential election and until the end of his tenure.
Other netizens, meanwhile, mocked the Comelec’s action reg flag. Another user on the internet stated that the commissioners who retired in February, including Rowena Guanzon, should be replaced.
However, internet users remain dubious, particularly because one of the new commissioners is now the lawyer for one of the current candidates. The next Comelec Commissioner is George Garcia, a former lawyer for Bongbong Marcos.
Garcia’s customers include a number of well-known figures. He was Pnoy’s, Grace Poe’s, and FPJ’s previous lawyer. Aimee Neri was also named as a commissioner, in addition to Garcia. Saidamin Pangarungan has been named as the Comelec’s ad-interim chairman.
