Iloilo Town Councilor Bet Withdraw from Elections than to Support Marcos

Iloilo Town Councilor Bet Ends Political Career Rather than Supporting Marcos

A councilor bet in Iloilo town ends political career rather than showing support to presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Jess Cordero Dimafiles, a running councilor in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo opted to abandon his campaign rather than remain in the camp of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos. Dimafiles stated in his statement that he could not tolerate running for Marcos’ party and hence withdrew his candidacy.

“This cause transcends my political career as this election will have a big impact on the future of our children,” Dimafiles said in a video statement.

Under the Nacionalista Party, Dimafiles would have stood for re-election as an Iloilo councilor, but his party now supports Marcos. As a result, he was obliged to back Marcos, despite the fact that his preferred candidate for the presidency is Vice President Leni Robredo.

He couldn’t sleep because he remembered what BBM’s father, former President Ferdinand Marcos, was accused of doing while still a student at the University of the Philippines Visayas. According to him, their political leaders forced them to announce their support for Marcos.

When his party mates discovered that Robredo was indeed the candidate he intended to support, they simply kicked him out of the party, causing him to drop out of the race. As a result, he would spend all of his time campaigning for Robredo in Iloilo, which is considered the opposition candidate’s stronghold.

“I will focus on campaigning for the president we believe in, who our country needs, because this cause goes beyond my political career. In this election, there will be a great impact to the future of our children, Today, I can proudly and openly declare, Kulay Rosas ang Bukas,” he said.
