Lourd De Veyra is a broadcaster, talk show host, news anchor, author, poet, and musician. His show “Word Of The Lourd” was once airing on TV5 channel to which the various segments tackles social and political commentaries delivered through his deadpan humor. The program also discusses national issues and Filipino pop culture.
De Veyra is a member of the Filipino jazz-rock band Radioactive Sago Project. Is the program a sample of contemporary art? First, let’s define contemporary art. This kind of art is the art of today and is produced by artists who are living in the twenty-first century. It has seven disciplines: painting, sculpture, architecture, poetry, music, literature, and dance which means that it does not only defined by painting alone, it’s more than just it.
Now, why is the considered contemporary art? Simply put, the program shows the reflections of modern society, the issues of the people, and the world around us through a medium that’s based on technology, some experimentations, and how it’s done traditionally was put aside. It presented the audience with the reality of the happenings in society. This shows that such is art out of experimentation by using different materials.
Lourd Ernest Hanapol De Veyra is De Veyra’s real name. His father is a retired politician, his mother is a pianist by profession and dietician by training, and his uncle is Mike Hanopol of the Juan de la Cruz band.
