Atong Ang faces queries about his E-sabong business
Business tycoon Atong Ang revealed that his company Lucky 8 Star Quest Inc, one of the companies doing the E-sabong business, is earning P3 billion every month.
Ang disclosed this information during the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs’ second hearing on Friday. This was in line with the cases of missing “sabungeros”.
Based on the report from GMA News Online, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon asked the business tycoon the range of e-sabong bets every day. Atong Ang said that they receive around P1 to P2 billion worth of bets per day and monthly it could reach around P60 billion.
Ang said that out of the bets every month, his company is getting 5 percent worth of commission which is around P3 billion. “Five percent of P60 billion is roughly P3 billion per month. [‘Yun] ang commission ninyo,” Sen. Drilon asked and Ang affirmed this by saying, “P3 billion more or less.”
However, the businessman said that P2 billion or P2.5 billion are given to their “agents” out of the P3 billion. He also said that they are allocating 1 percent of the commission for the expenses of the E-sabong firm. “More or less nasa P900 [million], P800 [million] ang matitira,” the businessman said.
With this, Sen. Drilon said that out of the P3 billion commission, PAGCOR is only getting P640 million income, which for him is just “pittance.” PAGCOR chairperson Andrea Domingo said that from May to December 2021, the monthly revenue that they got was around P400 million. The revenue grew this January to P640 million a month, Domingo said.
