Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca shared their advice to aspiring actors
Kapamilya actors Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca were asked what it takes to enter the showbiz industry.
Both Gerald and Jake have spent years doing what they love to do – acting. They have played various characters that became part of the lives of many viewers. For the years they have spent for their professions.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PUSH, the two actors of ABS-CBN, were asked to give their advice to aspiring actors. Gerald Anderson said that he is not fond of giving advice because he wants to set an example like coming to the set prepared just like what professionals should do.
“But more than anything dapat always have kindness kasi hindi biro yung set eh, hindi biro yung pinagdadaanan,” he added. Gerald also said that it is more challenging nowadays because of the lock-in taping. For him, kindness should always be present because everyone on the set has difficulties to encounter.
“So always have kindness sa cameraman, sa utility. So kindness and professionalism,” Gerald Anderson shared. When Jake Cuenca answered the same question, he cited the advice that he got from his home network.
“ABS-CBN had advice for me back then and yun din ang advice ko sa aspiring actors or people who want to be an actor, just be you,” Jake said. He added that despite having the quirks and weirdness, these should not be something to be hidden because these are part of one’s self.
“At the same time, with that being said, siyempre you have to be kind. You have to be professional,” Jake echoed Gerald’s answer. Jake added that it is a misconception that aspiring actors would think that the work only starts when they are on the set. He said that prior to arriving at the set, preparations need to be done.
“Kumbaga yung nakikita na lang ng tao yung tip of the mountain and the mountain of work that’s just for you,” he said.
