Jeepney Group Seeks P5 Fare Hike Amid Fuel Price Increase

Jeepney Group Urges PH Gov’t to Approve P5 Fare Hike

FARE PRICE HIKE – A jeepney group is seeking P5 fare hike amid the series of fuel price increase over the last few weeks.

The group Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP) has called the attention of the Philippine government to approve the P5 fare increase.

FEJODAP president Ricardo “Boy” Rebaño makes the plead amid the consecutive weeks of oil price hike and poor jeepney drivers who were working to earn money seem to be doing public service.

“Kami naman po’y natutuwa na nakakapag-serbisyo kami ng kapwa nating Pilipino. Pero sana naman po, ‘yung ating pamahalaan, ‘wag kaming panoorin nang panoorin sa aming paghihirap na dinaranas namin. Umaksyon naman kaagad sila,” Rebaño said.

Rebaño seeks the increase of minimum fare to sustain their operations and the hearing for the P5 fare increase will be held on March 8. The plight has been filed at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

LTFRB has received numerous petitions for fare increase and some of them have been scheduled for hearings.

The group is also asking for fare hike including the additional P1.50 for every kilometer exceeding four kilometers. Rebaño said that the fare adjustment will be a gret help for the drivers and operators.

“Kung maaprubahan po ‘yun, malaking tulong sa amin, Sana aprubahan niyo na ‘yan sa lalong madaling panahon para gumaan-gaan din naman ang buhay ng mga driver at operator,” the group president added.
