1 Police Dismissed Over Involvement to PNP-PDEA Misencounter Incident
The Philippine National Police-Internal Affair Service (PNP-IAS) has dismissed one of the police involved in the PNP-PDEA misencounter in Quezon City.
The PNP-IAS has suggested that one of the officers engaged in the alleged mishap between its members and PDEA agents in a Quezon City retail center in 2021 be dismissed. This is in addition to the ten police officers who were demoted owing to charges of direct assault and persecution, according to their report released on Thursday.

Corporal Alvin Borja of the Quezon City Police District-Special Operations Unit was singled out by the IAS (QCPD-DSOU). According to the report, witnesses told Borja to shoot a PDEA agent and informant.
Borja was charged with the murder of PDEA agent Rankin Gano by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in September. Because of the overwhelming evidence, only Borja and ten other officers were disciplined out of a total of 41 officers participating in the event, based on the report.
On February 24, 2021, four persons were reported slain when the PNP and PDEA opened fire on Commonwealth Ave. in a supposed anti-drug operation. The previous report said that four PDEA agents and a police officer were charged with homicide in the criminal case brought by the NBI.
Attempted homicide charges have been filed against nine persons. Several additional officers and PDEA agents were accused with direct assault, fabrication of official papers, robbery, and aiding or abetting evasion.
