Tropical Depression Verbena Brings Flooding to Parts of Negros Occidental

Tropical Depression Verbena Causes Flooding to Parts of Negros Occidental Due to Continuous Rainfall

Tropical Depression Verbena caused widespread flooding in several areas of Negros Occidental after hours of continuous rainfall.

On Tuesday (November 25, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Verbena continued to affect the country’s weather, bringing rain and strong winds to many provinces.

According to forecasts, Verbena carried maximum winds of around 55 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour. Weather experts also noted that the system may strengthen further and could reach the level of a severe tropical storm.

29 areas across the Philippines remained under Signal No. 1 due to the cyclone’s presence. The storm is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning, November 27, 2025, if it continues on its current path.

While Verbena did not reach typhoon strength, its rains were enough to trigger serious flooding, especially in Negros Occidental. Many communities experienced rising water levels that quickly affected homes, roads, and daily activities.

Bacolod City was among the hardest-hit areas, with some streets submerged up to waist and even chest level. Residents struggled to move around, and many chose to leave their homes early to avoid being trapped by the flood.

Families were seen carrying important belongings as they relocated to safer areas. Local authorities monitored the situation closely and reminded residents to remain alert and prioritize safety.

The rains brought by Verbena show that even a weak tropical system can still create difficult conditions for communities, especially in low-lying areas.
