Lacson-Sotto Team Drops Gatchalian, Bautista for Attending Marcos Rally

Gatchalian, Bautista Removed from Lacson-Sotto Slate for Attending Marcos Rally

Win Gatchalian and Herbert Bautista were removed from the Lacson-Sotto tandem senatorial slate after they allegedly attended the Marcos-Duterte proclamation rally.

Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, a presidential candidate, has stated that Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Baustista had been ousted from his team. After former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte held a rally, the senatorial bets allegedly attended.

“Sen Sherwin Gatchalian and ex-Mayor Herbert Bautista have made their choices of the principles and advocacies that they will embrace moving forward in this political exercise. Obviously, they are not ours,” Lacson said in a tweet.

“They now cease to be part of the Lacson-Sotto team,” he added.

According to Lacson, Senator Win skipped the Lacson-Sotto proclamation in Cavite in order to attend the Marcos-Duterte rally. To the Lacson-Sotto rally, Gatchalian brought his brother, Deputy Speaker Wes Gatchalian, as a proxy.

Former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista, who had been designated as part of their slate and who had attended the Marcos-Duterte rally, had stepped out, according to the duo. Bautista reportedly submitted a letter to the Marcos-Duterte “uniteam” asking if he might be the “representative” of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Sotto leads the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), which includes Bautista and Gatchalian. Meanwhile, Gatchalian said he accepts the decision to drop him off the Lacson-Sotto ticket, and he apologized for any confusion he may have created.

Bautista, on the other hand, claimed he had “no hard feelings” over the Lacson-Sotto team’s decision to remove his name from the Senate race. Bautista announced that he is now supporting Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio.
