“Capalmella Channel” Dubbed to Manny Villar Media Company
An ABS-CBN writer called the media company of the billionaire Manny Villar as the “Capalmella Channel” after owning the channel.
Jerry Gracio, an award-winning ABS-CBN writer and a member of the ‘Kapamilya ng Manggagawang Pilipino’ partylist, reprimanded Villar’s media enterprise. This came when they were given ownership of the ABS-CBN network’s previous channel frequencies.
The ‘Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), which is owned by Villar, was granted to use the Channel 2 and Channel 16 frequencies that ABS-CBN utilized while it was still on free TV. Villar’s AMBS is known as the ‘Capalmella Channel,’ much as ABS-CBN is known as the ‘Kapamilya Channel,’ said Gracio.

Kapamilya and Camella came up with the name, which references the Villar family’s sole possession of a subdivision. According to Gracio, the shows on “Capalmella” will be rubbish due to a lack of appropriate research.
“So, sa Capalmella Channel, malamang ang mga shows, walang research, dahil ayaw ni Cynthia ng mga baliw na baliw sa research,” Gracio said in a tweet.
In addition to AMBS, Pastor Apollo Quiboly has granted Channel 43 to ‘Sonshine Media Network International,’ or SMNI, which was formerly used by ABS. President Duterte reportedly shut down the network to benefit his supporters, according to him.
“So, ‘yung Channel 2, ibinigay na sa mga Villar. ‘Yung Channel 43 broadcast frequency na dating ginagamit ng ABS-CBN, ibinigay naman kay Quiboloy,” he said.
“Ipinasara nila ang network, tinanggalan ng trabaho ang 11,000 manggagawa, para makinabang ang mga crony ni Duterte,” Gracio added.
Gracio also revealed that he purportedly spoke with a former network worker who is currently struggling as a result of being let off. They will retaliate, he claims, since shutting down the network is more than an issue of press freedom; it is also a matter of livelihood and the lives of the workers.
So Gracio promised, “Titindig ang #101KapamilyaPartylist para sa lahat ng Kapamilya, para sa mga manggagawa ng network na tinanggalan ng trabaho sa gitna ng pandemya. Maniningil kami.”
