Online Seller Arrested Over Smuggled Test Kits

Police authorities arrested an online seller who is allegedly selling test kits that were discovered to be smuggled.

Authorities searched the online seller’s location at 555 Carlos Palanca, San Miguel, Manila, and confiscated test kits and other illicit commodities. Joint operatives of the MICP Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service led by Alvin Enciso, NBI Special Action Unit, and PCG Task Force Aduana attacked an online seller of smuggled unregistered Clungene Covid 19 test kit, armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) signed by Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

Meanwhile, in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City yesterday, two individuals were detained for selling unregistered COVID-19 antibody test kits. According to the report, the suspects were apprehended in a buy-bust at approximately 4:50 p.m. by Quezon City District Field Unit (QCDFU) members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

The arrest occurred at the Banawe St. Brgy. Sta. The CIDG got a report on unlicensed COVID-19 antibody test kits being sold online by some individuals in Mesa Heights, Quezon City, as part of their CIDG Flagship Project “OLEA and OPLAN SALIKOP.”

Authorities promptly initiated an entrapment/buy bust operation against the username “ESROHDER TOYULAB” on the Online/Facebook Account Platform. Baluyot was eventually recognized as the one selling the Clungene Rapid Test kit illegally.

1,000 marked money, including boodle money, 200 boxes of COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit branded CLUNGENE Rapid Test Kit with a market value of 800,000; a cellphone used in online selling, delivery receipt, and xerox copy of Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration (OR/CR) were among the items seized from the arrested suspects.
