Actress Betty White Dies at 99
ACTRESS BETTY WHITE – The actress-comedian who is one of the most popular stars in Hollywood died at the age of 99 on New Year’s eve.
One of the most popular names in Hollywood is Betty White. She is one of the pioneers of early television and she is also a brilliant personality in the field of comedy. She has lived almost eight (8) decades of her life as an actress.
Betty worked not just in front of the camera but as well as behind it. She is the first actress woman to have produced a situational comedy (sitcom) show – the Life with Elizabeth in the United States. In 1955, she was tagged as the “Honorary Mayor of Hollywood”.
Aside from the said title, Betty White is also referred to as the “First Lady of Television”. It was the title of a documentary of her life that was released in 2018.
Betty White married a United States Army Air Force P-38 pilot who owned a chicken farm in Ohio. They went home to Ohio as he wanted a simple life but it was not what the star is used to. They separated after a year.
In 1947, Betty married for the second time. He officially tied the knot with Hollywood talent agent Lane Allen. However, their marriage also led to separation for wanting different things – he wants to have a family while she is into her career.
In 1963, Betty married game show Password host Allen Ludden whom she met two (2) years prior to it. They worked on some projects together. He was her final husband although they did not have kids. He passed away in 1981 due to stomach cancer.
Before 2022 started, actress Betty White died at the age of 99. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the actress’ longtime agent, Jeff Witjas, said that she peacefully died in her sleep “without pain”. It is what comforted him amid the loss.
