Palace Slams Those Spreading Fake, Malicious Posts About Health Crisis

Palace Condemns Fake News, Malicious Posts About COVID-19 Online

Malacañang Palace has slammed those individuals spreading fake news and malicious posts about the COVID-19 on social media.

Those who propagate fake news have been advised by Malacanang to quit making harmful and unsubstantiated claims since it does not assist the people’s predicament. Spreading fake news, according to Acting Presidential Spokesman Karlo Nograles, does not help since it merely adds to the public’s concern.

Due to the escalating number of COVID incidents in the country, Nograles especially mentioned a voice tape of a lady saying there will be total lockdown and martial law. The secretary stated that it was fake news and that the public should not trust it.

“Sa mga walang magawa at nagpapakalat nito, tigilan na ninyo ito please. Hindi ito biro. We are dealing with the threat that understandably concerns our people and spreading baseless and malicious rumors contributes to unnecessary anxiety and to needless panic. Hindi ito nakakatulong,” said Nograles.

The public should only trust information from reliable organizations and government entities that give accurate news, according to the secretary. Aside from the propagation of a woman’s voice clip, there was also a rumor on social media that an official had denied a post that would shut the country for two weeks.

“Get your news and information from credible sources only. Kaya nga po binabalita natin agad ang mga bagong hakbang laban sa COVID para alam agad ng taumbayan,” added Nograles.
