Ex-DPWH Build Build Build Chair Made a Book of Duterte Admin Infra Accomplishments

Ex-DPHW Build Build Committee chair Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo releases a book of infra accomplishments of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

Lamentillo just published a book highlighting the Duterte Administration’s infrastructure achievements over the last five years. Written by Lamentillo and edited by Manila Bulletin Lifestyle editor Arnel Patawaran, “Night Owl” was released by Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation.

Book of Infra Accomplishments

The book traces the country’s progress toward a better life and a plethora of chances as a result of President Rodrigo Duterte’s massive infrastructure initiative. The book, according to Lamentillo, is a homage to all those who created and designed the Philippines’ “Golden Age of Infrastructure.”

“This is for all 6.5 million Filipino workers who have undertaken projects under Build, Build, Build. This is their story, and our story as a nation — the challenges we have overcome to connect not only the communities, but our islands, and Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao,” Lamentillo said.

Night Owl is a progress report on the Duterte Administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program, which includes 29,264 kilometers of roads, 5,950 bridges, 11,340 flood mitigation structures, 222 evacuation centers, 150,149 classrooms, 214 airport projects, and 451 seaport projects completed in the last five years, according to her.

As the previous chair of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Build, Build, Build committee, Lamentillo detailed in the book how the DPWH, led by then-Secretary Mark A. Villar, found answers to long-standing agency difficulties. This includes right-of-way, ghost projects, and project deadlines that are impossible to meet.

She also related her experiences in the Philippines, where she requested a nice road. Until she saw the tremendous transformation in the country’s infrastructure network, which was grounded in an infrastructure plan that followed the ASEAN Connectivity Master Plan.

The book also demonstrates how finished projects lead to more convenient living by improving traffic flow and providing greater access to key services and possibilities for livelihood. This also demonstrates how current initiatives will benefit individuals, communities, and the economy.

“I only dreamed then that the Philippines would have a good infrastructure network. I never thought that I would be a part of this big program that has brought about a big change in our country and in the lives of Filipinos. Because of this, I believe ‘Build, Build, Build’ should be permanent. With Night Owl, I want it to be the goal of every Filipino as well,” said Lamentillo.

She went on to say that the book proves that if comparable efforts continue, we can join the trillion-dollar club. As part of “Build, Build, Build,” the book includes biographies of agency executives as well as introductions from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea, and Secretary Villar.
