Drug Manufacturers to Replenish Supply of Paracetamol Within this Week, DTI Says
DTI reported that the drug manufacturers will replenish the supply of Paracetamol and other medicines within this week.
On Wednesday (January 5, 2021), the Department of Trade and Industry said that pharmaceutical companies are expected to provide the stocks of medicines under Paracetamol brands.
Lopez said that the drug firms did not expect the high demand of popular brands of paracetamol by the start of January. The local stores were not also prepared on the sudden surge in demands leading to tight supply.
“Di nila inaasahan ang pagdagsa ng demand mula Jan. 1 at ang normal inventory sa mga tindahan hindi nakahanda sa dagsa ng demand kaya nagkaroon ng out of stock, Asahan natin within the week sila ay magrereplenish na ng kanilang delivery,” Lopez said.
The DTI chief assured that the stocks of the popular drug brand will be replenished. He also urged the public not to panic buy because there are enough stocks of medicine for flu and it’s only a matter of replenishing.
The Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Association of the Philippines president Janette Jakosalem also assured that the association can replenish the stocks within two to three days. Customers can made their order and those who live in Metro Manila can receive the medicines within the same day.
“‘Yung mga out of stock situation we are already reaching out so that makakapagreplenish sila ng branches. Regular po kaming nagdedeliver sa kanila (popular drugstores), sa Mercury nagdedeliver kami sa central warehouse tapos sila na ang nagdadala sa branch nila.” Jakosalem said.
