College Dean Jailed Over Harassment Complaint by Students in Pagadian

Police authorities arrested a college dean in Pagadian City after his criminology students file a complaint against him due to harassment.

In Pagadian City, a college dean was arrested and charged with two counts of lasciviousness by his pupils. Oscar Cosicol of Southern Mindanao Colleges’ criminology department was named as the dean.

Cosicol was detained at his house on Monday, according to the police report, on a warrant issued by Pagadian City Municipal Trial Court Branch 2. The dean’s particular abuse of his pupils was not revealed by the police.

If convicted, the dean faces a sentence of six months to six years in jail. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court upheld a teacher’s conviction for lewd activities and child abuse against three female students, all of whom were 13 years old at the time of the crimes.

The Supreme Court (SC) confirmed the 2018 conviction of the Court of Appeals (CA), which supported the regional trial court’s verdict from 2017. (RTC). The names of three females were given the letters “AAA,” “BBB,” and “CCC” in the SC judgment.

The SC suppressed the location of the offenses, some of the identities of the witnesses, and the RTC branch that rendered the judgement following the trial. According to the allegations filed by one of the victim, the defendant was found guilty of two counts of lascivious conduct under Section 5(b) of RA 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
