PNP Reports Odette Death Toll At 211

ODETTE DEATH TOLL – The onslaught of Typhoon Odette ravaged the lives of thousands of Filipinos and killed at least 211.

As the year comes to an end, areas in Visayas and Mindanao were visited by the strongest typhoon of the year. This caused massive damage to property, caused flooding, and more.

In PNP’s latest update, 129 more people were reported dead in Central Visayas. Meanwhile, in the Caraga region, 41 were pronounced dead. Additionally, Western Visayas reported 24 deaths following the typhoon and six in Eastern Visayas.

Along with this, Northern Mindanao reported 10 deaths along with one fatality in Zamboanga. In total, the PNP accounted for at least 211 deaths due to the Typhoon. Furthermore, at least 239 people were injured with 52 indiviudals still missing.

When Odette made landfall, heavy rains and strong winds hit several areas in Visayas and Mindanao and caused severe flooding. According to an article from GMA, the PNP said at least 71 areas were heavily flooded.

And, as strong winds toppled powerlines, a total of 3,164 areas are still left with no electricty. Likewise, cell cites were also affected causing 1,897 localities to have no celluar communication service.
