Man Plays Last Farewell As Odette Floods Destroyos 20-Year-Old Piano
MAN PLAYS LAST FAREWELL – Typhoon Odette’s onslaught affected thousands of Filipinos especially in the Visayas-Mindanao regions.
According to data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Siargao and Dinagat were the first to meet the typhoon. As of Friday, communication through phone is still unavailable.
The typhoon’s strong winds and floodwaters ravaged through properties leaving nothing but ruin. Meanwhile, on social media, one pianist went viral as he bid farewell to his 20-year-old piano.
As floodwater continues to rise, the pianist played one last song to his long-time partner. Netizens commented on the video that it was as sad as the titanic.
Based on comments from social media, the piano holds a lot of sentimental value for him. He said that his parents gave him the piano when he was just 5 years old.
Although he wanted to save the piano, the sudden surge in floodwater made it impossible for him, adding to the fact that the size of the piano was too big and too heavy for him to handle alone.
One netizen even commented on unfortunate news saying piano’s affected by floodwater is not worth saving:
Unfortunately when a piano gets flooded like that, it’s really not worth saving. Once it dries out you’d essentially have to replace every part of the instrument, which would be way more expensive than just buying a new one. Really tragic, some gorgeous instruments were lost after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
