Maja Salvador talked about her new action film
Award-winning actress Maja Salvador revealed the reason why she said “yes” when the action movie Arisaka was offered to her.
Maja is known as one of the prime drama actresses of her generation and she has proven this through her soap operas. Now, she also tapped her action star side with her new movie that is streaming on Netflix now.
Based on the article in Inquirer, Maja faced certain challenges in doing her role as policewoman Mariano. “I had to do a lot of action scenes. I guess I was able to do them because being an action star is in my blood, since I am Phillip Salvador’s niece,” she shared.
The most challenging part of these actions scenes was the fact that she had to do it several times for different camera angles. She had to make sure also that there was consistency in her performance.
“Once the director said, ‘action!’ I had to really jump into the scene, especially if it’s a scene with Kuya Mon (Confiado, who plays the villain Sonny). He’s such an intense actor,” Maja Salvador added.
The actress admitted that when this project was presented to her, she liked the script immediately. Her character has fewer dialogues and so she had to concentrate on her acting so that she will be able to capture the attention of the audience without her lines.
Maja also mentioned the three reasons why Arisaka got an immediate “yes” from her. First is about the director, then, the production company behind this and the role that was offered to her.
“First of all, it’s directed by a critically acclaimed artist. Second, it’s produced by Ten17P, the team that gave me an Urian best actress for ‘Thelma.’ They have a special place in my heart. Third, I accepted the role because it talks so much about women empowerment,” she said.
Maja Salvador also highlighted the personality of her character who never gave up despite several times that she fell down. She said that like Mariano, she also has a mission that she is trying to fulfill.
