Casimero did not make it to his final official weigh-in on Friday because he took ill on Thursday and was transported to the hospital, according to Harrison Whitman, Probellum’s Chief Legal Officer. Casimero was hospitalized because to viral gastritis, according to the article.

“Upon admission a team member of your camp named Mr. Stephen Lunas Jr., confirmed to Mr. Whitman via text messages through the “WhatsApp” chat application, that you were unable to participate in the schedule WBO Bantamweight Championship bout against Paul Butler on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai, UAE,” said Luis Batista-Salas, chairman of the WBO Championship Committee for Casimero to appear on Boxingscene.com.

Casimero was seen at a public exercise held by Probellum at City Walk Dubai on Thursday after being transported to the hospital. Casimero’s championship was also reportedly removed from him, but the WBO has yet to make an official announcement.

Casimero would have defended his championship for the third time against Butler. Meanwhile, in case there is any uncertainty regarding Casimero’s medical status, whoever wins yesterday night over Butler and Agbeko will be crowned the official WBO 118-pound champion.
