Samantha Panlilio "Heartbroken but Grateful" Over Early Exit In Pageant

After a loss in Miss Grand International 2021, Samantha Panlilio says she’s heartbroken but still thankful.

SAMANTHA PANLILIO – Miss Grand Philippines 2021 Samantha Panlilio had an early exit in the international pageant and here’s what she said.

In a previous article, many netizens were left puzzled because Samantha Panlilio, the Philippines bet in Miss Grand International 2021, was not able to make it to the Top 20. The pageant was held in Thailand and the coronation night happened on Saturday, December 4. She’s the third “Samantha” in the MGI pageant representing the country following Samantha Bernardo and Samantha Lo.

For this, the winner of the MGI crown is Tien Thuc Thuy Nguyen of Vietnam, and here are the placement of the other finalists:

1st runner-up: Andrea Victoria Aguilera
2nd runner-up: Lorena Goncalves Rodrigues
3rd runner-up: Vivianie Diaz Arroyo, Puerto Rico
4th runner-up: Jeane Van Dam, South Africa

Her early exit drew confusion because many have seen how well she did during the preliminary competition. To recall, she turned heads with her gold, butterfly-inspired national costume and she is also among the top five finalists for Best in Swimsuit. Previous beauty queens like Nicole Cordoves (2016) and Samantha Bernardo (2020) almost clinched the title after placing first runner-up.

Now, with her loss in the pageant, she expressed her feelings in an Instagram post. She shared that she is “completely heartbroken” but what mattered to her is that she did her best. She remained grateful and she is thankful for the love and support people have given her despite going out of the competition too early.

Former PH’s MGI delegate Cordoves commented on her post and thanked her for “being the kind of representative who made the most of every opportunity given to you to give an unforgettable performance”. She admired Sam’s strong and resilient character which she thinks are among the factors defining what a true Filipina is.
