The suspect identified himself as a police officer with the rank of SPO2 when the cops arrived. However, the suspect’s name was not found in the PNP’s Personnel Accounting Information System during the examination by the Imus police station.

The 41-year-old suspect was arrested and had several sets of police uniforms taken, including General Office Attire or blue uniform and fatigue field service outfit. The suspect’s name is featured on the uniform with the Manila Police District patch.

He was also found carrying a.45 caliber gun and IDs indicating that he was wearing a police uniform, in addition to the uniform. Among the allegations he faces are violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act, Illegal Use of Insignias, and Authority Usurpation.

PLtCol Calapatia is now urging PNP uniform dealers to avoid selling uniforms to civilians, especially if no identification can be produced. He also urged members of the public to contact them if they are harmed by bogus cops.
