Coco Martin FAMAS Best Actor Nomination Is An ‘Error’ – Columnist

A columnist has this statement against Coco Martin

Kapamilya actor Coco Martin is nominated as Best Actor in this year’s FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) Awards, however, a columnist stated that it is an “error.

Just recently, FAMAS has released the official list of nominees and the name of Coco was listed down under the Best Actor category for his movie Love or Money opposite Angelica Panganiban.

Other actors who are nominated in the same category are Xian Lim (Untrue), Allen Dizon (Latay), Alfred Vargas (Tagpuan), Paulo Avelino (Fan Girl), Elijah Canlas, (He Who Is Without Sin), and JC Santos (On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets).

All of these movies were released in 2020, however, the one that Coco Martin starred in was released in March of 2021. This is the fact that Newsko columnist Ricky Calderon pointed out in his article that was released on December 3.

The columnist said, the award-giving body in the Philippines is “giving awards to the films that were shown in 2020” and with this, the movie of the Ang Probinsyano lead actor should be included in the list of nominees for next year and not this year.

Kaya nga dapat magpaliwanag ang FAMAS sa nominasyon ni Coco. Hindi man lang ba nila napansin ito when they were reviewing the entries?” Calderon stressed.

He also said that FAMAS should have noticed this thing even during the review process. Calderon also asked if how the award-giving body will “rectify” this “error”. The columnist questioned as well if this will just be ignored or the name of Coco Martin will be taken out.

As of this writing, FAMAS and the camp of the Kapamilya actor have not released any statement yet.
