Bongbong Marcos Cancels Political Rally in QMC Due to Denied Requests from Gov’t

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos cancels the supposed political rally at Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) after their requests were allegedly denied.

The campaign of a presidential candidate has decided to postpone a political gathering at Quezon Memorial Circle’s Liwasang Aurora. Instead, on December 8, it would just hold a motorcade in Quezon City.

Marcos Jr.’s main headquarters announced the decision after the local government of Quezon City allegedly refused their request to organize a rally at Aurora Square, according to Health Rep. Mike Defensor. The government of Quebec even instructed them they could only do it on the basketball court.

“Dun po sa pakikipag-usap naman sa BBM main headquarters, nagkaisa na kami na i-withdraw nalang yung request given na mayroong mga denial (ng request) before,” said Defensor, Marcos Jr.’s mayoral candidate, in Quezon City.

Defensor gave the reporters the QMC letters, one stating that they would only undertake the activity on the basketball court, and one stating that they could now utilize Aurora Square with limitations. Defensor explained that the decision not to continue the political protest was made prior to receiving the letter indicating that the usage of Aurora Square could be discussed.

“Hindi na ho namin papatulan o hindi na kami magsasabi pa na dyan kami at makikipag-usap sa kanila kung ano pang kondisyon ang ibigay nila sa amin,” Defensor said.

“Hindi pa naman approval ang binigay nila they still want to meet to discuss certain conditions sa paggamit ng Plaza (Liwasang) Aurora,” the solon added.

The motorcade would take stage on Commonwealth Avenue and Quezon Avenue, according to the plan. The presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, Marcos’ running mate, is expected to join the procession, according to reports. As the motorcade will be held on a national road, Defensor stated they are now focusing on their involvement with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
