Despite the hardships brought on by the pandemic, Monreal applauds Telewik’s honesty. When Telewik was hauling garbage at Terminal 2, he noticed the bag on a chair. He originally ignored the bag, supposing it belonged to one of the passengers passing through the area.

When he returned, though, the suitcase was still there, so he sought assistance from airline ground attendants in locating its owner. He took the bag to the Lost and Found office without claiming it.

According to the Manila International Airport Authority, the bag contains no identification or documents that might identify its owner. According to reports, the bag contained US $10,000, or more than half a million pesos.

On Tuesday, a Filipino-American identified himself as the bag owner’s son. The honest janitor is appreciated by the bag owner’s son. He handed Telewik a reward of US $ 100 or more than P5,000 as a sign of his thanks.

“Despite the hardship brought by the pandemic, there are still people who remain honest. I salute Mr. Telewik for his great honesty. I am sure there are still more equally dedicated workers in our midst here in NAIA,” said Monreal.
