Roque 2016 Martial Law Post Following BBM Slate Announcement Went Viral
ROQUE MARTIAL LAW POST – Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque’s post regarding Martial Law back in 2016 went viral.
Before becoming President Rodrigo Duterte’s spokesperson, Roque prided himself as a human rights lawyer. But, throughout recent years, Roque faced criticisms for “switching sides”. As such, some call him a “balimbing”.
Back on April 28, 2016, Roque, the human rights lawyer held a conference at the Palma Hall in UP Diliman. On his official FB page, Roque posted a photo of himself as one of the speakers.
“Never Again. Never Forget: Martial Law, the Academe, and the Public.”, said Roque on the post. Now, Roque runs under the political slate of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Still, netizens had “receipts” of Roque’s post despite his attempts to remove it. Furthermore, netizens are asking how Roque, a person who publicly voice out against the Marcoses, would run for Senator under his political slate.
Apparently, some netizens saw that Roque Deleted his post following his announcement. However, as of writing, you could still see his 2016 post.
Roque now runs under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political party of BBM. The former spokesperson expressed his desire to accept the guest candidate for senator invitation sent by PFP chairman Marcos.
Along with the PFP, other political parties also backed BBM. These included Lakas-CMD, Pwers ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), and Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).
With this move, a “UNITEAM” alliance was forged. As such, the BBM/Sara tandem now has the support of former presidents such as Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Erap Estrada.
Back in 2019, Roque tried to run for Senator. However, he withdrew his candidacy due to “a percutaneous coronary intervention following the discovery of an unstable angina coronary disease”.
