Canada Logs Cases of COVID-19 Omicron Variant

CANADA – The country detected its first cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 which is currently a global variant of concern.

For more than a year now, the world is battling against the COVID-19 pandemic that rocked healthcare systems and cost millions of lives across the globe. Many people lost their loved ones without seeing them as the virus requires isolation and many people died amid their fight against the disease.

First recorded in China as per reports, the COVID-19 spread fast across the globe that even the World Health Organization (WHO) was alarmed by how fast it spread. WHO warned nations not to let their guards down early to prevent another surge of the cases.

However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, different mutated variants of the virus were detected. Recently, another variant, the B.1.1.529 or Omicron variant, became a global concern.
