Netizen Sparks Debate Over Divorce Bill Opinion: Women Should Be Trained To Pick Better Husbands
DIVORCE BILL PHILIPPINES – A netizen voiced her opinion regarding the Divorce Bill in the Philippines and sparked debates online.
In the Philippines, conversations about divorce had always been controversial. As such, a large percentage of the population is against passing the Divorce Bill. However, lawmakers such as Senator Risa Hontiveros had always campaigned for it.
Because of this, some netizens commented that she wants to push the divorce bill because she herself, wants a divorce. Afterward, Hontiveros responded saying she also passed a Shark Conservation law, and that doesn’t mean she wants to be a shark.
But, following this, a netizen, who’s against divorce chimed in on the conversation and said:
“Sorry po Sen. But, I do not support your divorce bill. Whether personal need or it’s coming from your feeling of empathy. We appreciate your Shar conservation bill”.
Surely, each one of us can voice out their opinion regarding issues in our community. However, the netizen’s statements afterward got people in a frenzy.
“If you wanna help prevent women not to get hurt by partners or don’t get abused by them, train or encourage women to be MORE prudent and do not [be] impulsive in picking a partner. Divorce is not the answer”.
Basically, the netizens are saying that women should adjust and be more caring toward men. Also, women should pick better partners and not rush into things.
Unfortunately, this didn’t bode too well with many. Here are some of the comments regarding the comment:

Isa sa weird na thinking ng Pinoy. Napaka self righteous baka daw gawing hobby ang kasal.She’s already at fault for saying that it’s just the woman who should be prudent. Some relationships just don’t work out in the end or were not what they seemed to be. It could also be the man who’s abusive, and that’s one of the reasons why Hontiveros wants to push for divorce in PH.
I think this person was raised on a traditional religious filipino family hahaha ganyan view ng mga yon eh. Kahit psych major sya nangingibabaw pa din ung religious morals nya
