Vice Pres. Leni Robredo Answers Question on Working w/ Mayor Sara Duterte
LENI ROBREDO – The presidential aspirant and Vice President was asked if she can work with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte if they win in 2022.
Some of the presidential and vice-presidential aspirants in the Election 2022 are incumbent government officials of the Philippines. For the presidential race, one of the aspirants is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.
Robredo filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for president as an independent candidate. She is the presidential nominee of the opposition coalition 1SAMBAYAN.
For the vice presidential race, one of those who filed their COCs is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. The presidential daughter initially filed her candidacy for re-election as the mayor of Davao City. She will supposedly vie for her 3rd term.
During the period set open for substitution of the Election 2022 aspirants, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte withdrew her COC for re-election. She also resigned from Hugpong ng Pagbabago, her regional party, and joined the national party Lakas-CMD.
The presidential daughter substituted the vice-presidential bet of Lakas-CMD. According to the Davao City Mayor, her recent political moves are in line with her pursuit to meet her supporters halfway on their calls for her to run for a national post.
There are speculations and questions on the possibility of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte winning the Election 2022. Some Filipinos are curious if they can work together. To this, the Vice President gave her response.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, speaking to Korina Sanchez when asked if she can see herself working with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte if they win in the Election 2022, Vice Pres. Leni Robredo was quick to answer “yes”. She stressed that working together should outweigh the differences.
Vice Pres. Robredo further explained that it already happened to her citing her situation with the President. According to the Vice President, she tried to reach out many times and she worked in the cabinet. With regards to her stand on the deaths in the country that are allegedly linked to anti-drugs campaign of the Duterte administration, she stressed that she cannot just keep quiet about it.
