On Bea and John Lloyd’s career move, Cathy Garcia Molina said this
Prominent director Cathy Garcia Molina shared her reaction to the decision of former Kapamilya stars Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz to transfer to GMA-7.
Bea signed a contract with the Kapuso network last July and this November, John Lloyd also did the same for his upcoming sitcom. They both did remarkable movies under Star Cinema, the film outfit of ABS-CBN, and have worked together with Direk Cathy.
Based on the article in PEP, the filmmaker was asked about the network switch that Bea and John Lloyd did. Direk Cathy said that this saddened her but she is understanding them.
“May lungkot pero at the same time naiintindihan ko and at the same time kanya-kanya tayo ng pinagdadaanan,” the director said adding that she does not know what Bea and John Lloyd went through that led them to this decision. “Anyway, I respect that decision,” she added.
The director was also asked if there is a chance that she will direct the onscreen tandem once again, Cathy Garcia Molina said, “If nandun ang Star Cinema sa pelikula, yes, walang problema. Kaya lang ABS, Star Cinema ako.”
On the other hand, the filmmaker said that their communications lines have remained open. She said that the last conversation she had with John Lloyd was a couple of months ago while with Bea was a bit before that.
“We’re good,” she said. Direk Cathy also said that she misses the onscreen tandem but her focus now is on the younger generation of actors and actresses as they are the ones she likes to direct.
Meanwhile, Cathy Garcia Molina is set to have her first Metro Manila Film Festival movie and it is titled First Love At First Stream.
